Physiotherapy Myths
1. Physiotherapy is just for athletes and disabilities
Physiotherapy can be beneficial for anyone- no matter how big or small your goal is, we work to get you back to whatever it is you want to be doing, whether that is running a marathon, or just to sit at your desk without pain. We will work with you and your goals to design a treatment plan that is right for you.
2. I need a diagnosis from my doctor so you know what to treat
Physiotherapists are skilled at assessing your body to diagnose your pain or dysfunction. We don’t require a diagnosis or imaging first.
3. Physiotherapy is going to hurt
Our goal is to achieve your goal- whether that is to have less pain, move better, get stronger or a combination of the 3! There are some cases where you might have some soreness with treatment, but in most cases we are here to make you feel better, not worse!
4. I need a referral to see a physiotherapist – Physiotherapy can be accessed by the public directly, meaning that no referral or prescription is needed from a physician to book an appointment.
