There is no need to wait! Doing tummy time can help with breastfeeding and bottle feeding in many ways.

Tummy time on the parent’s chest helps regulate your baby’s breathing and body temperature. When they can feel, hear and smell you, it comforts them so that they can start to explore the world around them.

The new baby will lift its head and turn towards voices. Try this, have the other parent talk to the baby from the left and then move to the right.

When we get the full range of motion of the shoulders and neck, help the jaw and tongue move more freely.

It is so fun to watch! In tummy time a baby will root and lick.; feel free to transition to feeding at any time to help them positively associate tummy time with feeding and comfort.

Now, do you see why D.J loves tummy time? It’s like yoga for the tongue!
