Muscles are not meant to be clenched. You don’t clench your quad muscle to make you stronger when you go up and down the stairs, or clench your bicep when you are doing bicep curls right?? Muscles are meant to contract and relax, & shorten and expand with us as we move, and our pelvic floor is no different. Long answer short, our core and pelvic floor is supposed to contract and relax around our diaphragm movement. Start by practicing some pelvic floor contractions timing it with your exhale to start getting your body in sync again. When this gets better coordinated, try short bursts of exhales on the “out” part of a jumping jack!
