Dr. Jacquelyn Nicholls, DC

Dr. Jacquelyn Nicholls; aka; Dr. J is the founder of Adelaide Clinic, Doctor of Chiropractic, Acupuncture Provider, Webster Certified, member of the ICPA, GrowCo. Ambassador for Pelvic Health Rehabilitation, PIP certified, Custom Orthotics Provider, Cold Laser Therapy Provider and Concussion Management.

I discovered chiropractic after my own dance injury. At the time, I was at York University; a Double Major in Bachelor Fine Arts in Dance and Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. We would dance approximately 6- 8 hours a day; depending on your course load. I suffered a severe knee injury in class that was misdiagnosed and due to the length of time of the injury; it becomes more complicated and chronic, eventually involving my whole right leg and low back; once I found chiropractic I was back dancing and changed my career path to CMCC!

FAQS

  • How does a chiropractor work?

Chiropractic gives proper attention to your spine.

Your spine and your brain give function to the rest of our body – if they are not in order, then the rest of your body is completely affected.

Your spine has a very important function in your body. Not only does it support your body’s weight, but it also protects your spinal cord, which is the “central highway” of your nervous system. Our ability to walk, run, jump, lift, and feel almost every sensation below our neck requires a healthy spine. Chiropractic treatment works by helping to restore your body’s own ability to be healthy. It can actually open the doors for better sensory perception, less pain, a clearer mind, and better mobility.

  • What is an adjustment?

Chiropractic joint manipulation, also known as an “adjustment”, is a treatment where the chiropractor uses his or her hands to apply a very quick, precise, and safe amount of pressure directly on the problem area of your spine.

This pressure momentarily separates the joints, allowing a gas bubble to escape (this is the popping sound or cracking noise you may have heard about). This relieves the pressure on the joint and surrounding nerves, allowing your spine to return to its proper position. The adjustment is not painful and often provides immediate relief. It’s a simple treatment that works.

Back pain is still the number one reason people see their family doctors. Treat your pain without the use of drugs, for a better, healthier life.

  • Does chiropractic care work with acupuncture?

YES! Dr. J likes to say: Chiropractic works best on joint pain and acupuncture shines with muscles and nerve pain. Put them together – and we have covered all of our pain areas!

  • What is an activator?

The Activator Method is a chiropractic technique that uses a spring-loaded, hand held mechanical instrument called the Activator adjusting instrument. This instrument allows chiropractors to provide a quick, low- force impulse at a specific points. It can be used on all ages, often it is recommended for toddlers, children, elderly or people with bone disorders.

You can request activator or manual adjustments at your appoints at Adelaide Clinic.

At Adelaide Clinic, our chiropractors treat patients of all ages: Children, teens, young adults, adults, & elderly clients.
